Description:
Jesus was multilingual, though this is not reflected in the four Gospels. The writing of the Gospels in Greek indicates that the substance of the message is more important than the medium. Yet four phrases were preserved in Jesus’s home language. In these we see the importance of the home language in relationship with God, and the penetrative power and effect of the home language when used for God’s missional purposes.
