Abstract:

This report describes a sociolinguistic survey conducted during May and June 2001 in the North West Province of Cameroon. The purpose was to learn more about the relationship between the Mendankwe and Nkwen languages. Specifically, it was to determine the level of intelligibility between the two, to determine if they were really just dialects of one language, and to measure the speakers' comprehension of two adjoining languages, Mankon and Bafut. The primary testing tool used was the Recorded Text Testing.
