Abstract:
This paper details the results of a 2001 sociolinguistic survey of the Ngishe and Ngie languages in Momo Divison, North West Province of the Republic of Cameroon, carried out in the proximity of Andek, Teze, Esaw, and Oshie villages. The purpose of this survey was to gain a current overview of the language use patterns and vitality. Their attitudes toward each other's language and the inherent inter-intelligibility between the two speech varieties were ascertained to see if they could use a common literature. The report contains a Ngie word list.
