Abstract:
This document is based on a database of 2,246 basic words, where “basic” is defined as words with only one root that are neither ideophones nor borrowed from other languages. Since our database contains 267 imperfective verb forms (and most of these also have separate entries for the perfective) and many singular and plural forms for the same noun root, it is possible that the database may have as few as 1,500 unique roots, but it is probably more
