The Atlas Administratif des langages nationales du Cameroun (Breton and Fohtung 1987) gives it the language code [885]. The Ethnologue (Lewis 2009) lists Mungong as a dialect of Ncane, ISO 639-3 language code: ncr. The Mungong language area is comprised of the one village of Mungong with its own chief.
