"Your Language is the most precious element in life that still includes all major values of your ancestors. What does that mean for your children, and your grandchildren and their future?"

SIL Cameroon Academic Library

Welcome to the SIL-Cameroon Academic Library. This is the gateway to Linguistic Research, Translation and Literacy in National Languages. We provide access to the latest ideas in these areas of knowledge through information resources and high quality services for our users, SIL Members, University students and the general public. Our library is situated in three different locations, the mother collection in Yaounde, the Bamenda Regional Office (BRO) collection in Bamenda, and the Greater North Regional Office (GNRO) collection in Maroua.

By providing access to these resources, we contribute in the mission of seeing God’s Word become accessible to all people in the language that speaks to their heart.

Our library is opened to everyone interested in research and in the acquisition of knowledge in these areas that we are specialized in. We give opportunity to everybody to be able to visit our library and exploit the resources free of charge. If you simply want to read books, our library has something for you.

Borrowing Privileges

There is no limit to the number of items that may be borrowed at any one time. However, we have a condition for those who want to borrow and take library books home. If you are not a Mission member, we ask you to deposit the sum of 10.000 CFA for each book you want to sign-out. This is just for us to be sure that you will return the book. The sum will be reimbursed when you return the material. People who borrow books have a period of 14 days to return them
Remembering that many other people also use the library resources, we ask you to return items as soon as possible.

Research Tools

We have an electronic library catalogue. Users have the privilege to sit on a research computer and explore what we have in our collection. We give our users the liberty to use this tool themselves. However, there is a library qualified staff that is ready to come to your assistance if there is a need.
